ALMOST MAINE

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Dost Thou Enjoy the Bard?

We all know Shakespeare can be a little intimidating, but he can be a lot of fun too! Have a pint or a cider and relax into some Shakespeare. We'll read some scenes, we'll dive into the language, we'll make some games out of it! Jump in and take part, or sit back and enjoy. This is a no stress, fun way to get exposure to Shakespeare AND also to enjoy Elder Piper!! Bring your own Elizabethan Collar or Doublet and really get into character! We'll make this a semi regular thing, so come have some laughs in Olde English font.

Note: This was to be held earlier but was postponed due to the storm. All are welcome. We look forward to a fun and laughs while enjoying each other's company.

RED

In John Logan’s Tony award winning play Red, we enter the world of Mark Rothko as seen through the eyes of his naive new assistant Ken. Through Rothko’s mentorship of Ken we get to explore the creative process and worldview of an artist at the forefront of the abstract impressionist movement, as well as his reaction to the entrance of pop art onto the scene. Themes of creation, intention, and meaning in art weave through the tight dialog as Rothko preaches and Ken matures. Ken, at first overwhelmed and uncertain in the presence of the artist, eventually grows to challenge the master and helps Rothko as he straddles the line between the business and the integrity of his art. Red is the story of art, but it is also a story of the struggle for perfection and how expectations shape our lives.
