A success in London's West End.

Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French.

George and Linda Harper's seventeen-year marriage has gone stale, but George doesn't seem to be aware of it.  When confronted  with the problem, he places the blame on their dwindling sex life.  While Linda is seriously considering divorce, George get a vasectomy, which solves nothing, so he moves out of the house.  Linda rearranges her life by enrolling in all available self-improvement courses.  Trying for an amicable divorce settlement, they agree to use one lawyer and make the mistake of hiring their closest friend and neighbor.  When this backfires, George attempts to reconciliation by trying to seduce Linda on their living room couch.  George botches the seduction due to the pressure of trying to perform well and due to the unexpected return of their son from a date.  But it does result in their realizing they still care about each other... and that marriages need working at, need to be renewed and renegotiated from time to time - and theirs is certainly worth a second chance.

Bios

Patrick Richmond (Co-Director)  Wife Begins at Forty marks Pat's first foray into the realm of directing.  Pat made his stage debut last year in LTCT's production of A Doll's House and followed it up with his portrayal of the Sexton on Much Ado About Nothing.  pat has also lent his talents backstage doing sound, light design and stage managing.  He currently serves as Secretary on the LTCT Board of Directors.

Bill Zoerhof (Co-Director)  Wife Begins at Forty has a veteran of the Little Traverse Civic Theatre at the helm with Bill.  He has been involved in Petoskey and Bay View Civic Theatre since 1960.  He is familiar with most aspects of the theatre having worked on sets and onstage as an actor.  Some of the shows he has performed in are Guys and Dolls as Benny Southstreet, Music Man as Harold Hill, Show Boat as Captain Andy, and On Golden Pond as Norman.  Bill is retired and likes singing, flower gardening, and reading; not necessarily in that order.  He enjoys being active in civic and church activities and, of course, in Little Traverse Civic Theatre and Bay View Theatre.    top

Lainy Ward (Lainy the dog)  This is Lainy's first time onstage.  She is a three-year-old Springer/Sheltie mix, and likes doggie treats and rawhides.  She has been lovingly trained by Kristin Ward.  Lainy has been lots of fun to work with and has performed as well as any veteran of the stage.  She hopes to follow up her debut with some work in TV ads or motion pictures.  She dreams of becoming the next Lassie!    top

Christine Meinke (Betty Dixon)  This is Christine's first time with Little Traverse Civic Theatre, but she is no stranger to the stage both on and off.  She recently relocated to Northern Michigan.  Previously, Christine's talents were appreciated by community theatres in Kalamazoo and Ionia County.  She performed in The Night of January 15 as Nancy,  Once Upon a Mattress as Winnifred, in The Heiress as Aunt Penninman, and had walk on parts in Warriors Husband, 1984, and Little Mary Sunshine.  She has worked backstage doing makeup, costumes, props, and the ticket office.  Christine is the mother of two college boys and enjoys running, sewing and gourmet cooking.    top
